Jared & Brooke

It was awfully nice of Jared and Brooke to let me be their photographer...hooray for family obligations. There were so many shots that I liked it was hard to narrow down...but here are some of the top runners. I named some of them. Which is your favorite?

"I'm getting married....yea...."

"catch me" or "leap of faith"

"window shopping"

"just passing by"

"second thoughts"

"So join now, 'cause at the Derek Zoolander Center For Kids Who Can't Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too, we teach you that there's more to life than just being really, really, really good looking."

"it's a good tie, give it a chance"

"fallen for Brooke" - cheesy right?

"you're a monkey Jared! dance monkey dance"

this last one is simply titled "creepy" but I like it anyway
can't you just hear him saying, "hey little girl, do you like candy? I have some in my van."

178 Miles

So a couple of months ago Jeff roped me into joining his team for the 6th annual Reno-Tahoe Odyssey. It is a 178 mile relay race around the Reno-Tahoe area. It took our team about 281/2 hours to finish. Not too bad. The fastest teams take about 18 hours, but they're crazy. During the run I realized that I actually don't like running, but looking back I remember it being pretty fun and boy oh boy did it feel good to be done. Did I mention we only slept for about 3 nonconsecutive hours during that time? Maybe it wasn't that much fun and I was just delirious...

On a side note for all you Lyman's out there, remember about 2 years ago when Travis took a mysterious trip to Fallon to visit his "friend"? Well it turns out her name is Jennifer and she just happened to be on my team. I got to know her a little and I have to say that anyone who can run that much and sit in dirty clothes that long without a complaint is okay in my book...(not that Travis would care what I think anyway.)

the hand off - nothing like wearing an incredibly sweaty bracelet...seriously that was my favorite part

one of the sights along the way...I needed a picture of this. Trust me one day it's going to come in very handy.

nice shorts Johnny

staying strong (I love this picture - wish it was of me - -I never get to take great pictures of myself)

feeling like a champ

woo hoo, we're done!
Jennifer, teammate, student, Travis's secret friend
almost finished
the team at the finish line - still smiling if you can believe it

Steam Train

Fortunately for Doug on Memorial Day weekend the Carson City Train Museum was running their steam engine...unfortunately for Doug we didn't move our residency there. He still has to learn that all things good and bad must come to an end. Our arrival was accompanied by joyful excitement and giddy laughter, and as always, our departure was accentuated by hysterical crying. It's so hard to be Doug. Hopefully he'll grow out of this by the time he's in high school...

the hysterical crying as Doug's world came crashing down...
cousin Sarah or as Doug would say, "Rick"

"Rick"

Greg's cousin Sara came to town for a visit and to check out the new Nursing building at UNR. For the first few days Doug referred to her simply as, "Rick." Where does that name come from? I don't know. There isn't even a character from Thomas and friends named Rick. Anyway Doug was super happy to have his friend Sara/Rick come and play and maybe if we're lucky she'll be going to school here too.
