Originally I planned on taking the kids pictures in their Sunday best like every Christmas but at the beginning of November it was glaringly obvious that baby James would not fit in his Christmas Sunday clothes. They're 0-3 months sized but he's still drowning in them but that's another story... Greg suggested we just wrap in him up in a blanket and the nativity shoot was born. I think Greg did an excellent job building a manger for me and I hope to get some use out of it in the future - for feeding horses and cows etc. I know there's a lot of pictures, but I just like looking at them.
Alicia Cutts, this one is for you. If I don't keep up with current posts at least know my heart was in the right place (at least at the beginning).

Baby Brother
I've always wondered how to get the big and little kids into one picture without it looking super weird....with my kids I suppose that's a lost cause. Anyway I think it must have been fate that the day before I shot these an email of a wedding video was forwarded to me. On the link there was also a video of a newborn baby girl with her sisters and hence these poses. So like I said before, I claim all creative rights to these original poses that I came up with purely on my own merits and genius.
Cooter Burger
For those of you who don't know, Cooter Burger is a character who appeared on two episodes of a popular TV show. His name is a joke - it's not his real name, but his boss and everyone he works with thinks it is and never bother to find out what his real name in fact was...anyway I like it - just like I like Turd Fergeson - "it's a funny name." Well, Doug was my Turd Fergeson and this little guy is my Cooter Burger. Anyway, there are his newborn portraits - some of them - I guess you could say I got a little carried away, but in my opinion if your going to experiment on someone shouldn't that someone be one of you kids?
A special thanks to Alicia Cutts for inviting me to pinterest (my new favorite website) where I found links to all the information on how to do newborn portraits. Thanks go out to my mother as well for crocheting the hat and diaper covered (which he peed on, twice). Also a special thank you to Greg for not divorcing me over this - - it was a long and difficult morning for him.

Baby James
Here are some pictures from the hospital. We think he looks like Doug - in fact before he had a name we just called him Doug Jr. Should have some newborn portraits soon...maybe tomorrow. I would write more but I'm really tired.

At the Pumpkin Patch
A few weeks ago we went to the Andelin Family Farm Pumpkin Patch. I haven't been there in about 10 years and I've got to say I was impressed. The biggest contributing factor to their success is the location - right in the middle of town as Sparks has grown around them in the last 15 years. Anyway the kids had a blast and I've finally gotten around to downloading/editing the pictures. Mostly I've spent the last few months laying on the couch.
so this picture is a little weird -Natalie decided it would be great fun to go on the hay ride. So she did. By herself. (Stranger Danger!!) Fortunately it was friends and family day so almost everyone who was there was a stay at home mom from the stake. If only she had a better mom...
