PLAY BALL!!

"Well Mom, baseball is just my sport."
Doug recently started his first season of baseball with more gusto than the rest of his team combined.  Seriously I've never seen a kid like t-ball so much...maybe he should have been a cheerleader.  He had some trouble at first because; "Well, do you think I can be on the Giants and still be a Cubs fan?"  After we worked through that moral dilemma it's all been one big party.  Guess will be back again next spring.
Anyhow they had their team pictures on Saturday and Doug is notoriously for looking off into one corner (and he was biting his lips).  I only bought 1 5x7, but I had instant buyers remorse when the thought popped into my head; "Hey dummy, you have a camera."

SNOW!

All winter I've been waiting for a snow storm.  I've been working on getting some landscape pictures for my living room - - 1 set for each season but it doesn't look like winter pictures are happening this year.  Anyhow last Thursday there was a snowstorm up in the mountains, so I loaded up the kids and some sleds to try our luck.  Nat and Doug had a great time but Jimmy didn't care much for snow.  (Also his lame mom forgot to get him some mittens).  The forecast said scattered showers in the a.m. so we went up in the afternoon and it was still snowing.  Even though I took a few pictures I'm not in love with them - - probably because the sky was so gray.  I like the one with a break in the clouds but it seems a bit dramatic for a giant blown up print in my living room.  Maybe I'll have better luck next year.  Guess we finally have a good reason Can't wait to visit relatives in Oregon and Idaho.

Get Angry

Good thing he didn't want anything elaborate.  Guess I was kind of stuck after Natalie's dancing princess art tea party.  Anyway it was fun to make such a fancy cake - - I see more in my future or if I'm lucky next year the kids will just want money instead of a party.  I can dream anyway.  Just in case you're wondering as you get to the end there, yes, that is a spiderman pinata.  It was requested by the birthday boy.  Last year a Thomas the Train party with a baseball cake and this year an Angry Birds party with a spiderman pinata.  What's up with that?

Doug made his own party music mix and desperately wanted to do the Chicken Dance.  I aim to please one day a year.  Special thanks to all the adults who joined in.  Oh wait that's right, they all just stared at me like I was on drugs.  Thanks again for that.

Science Rules

A few weeks before the science fair Doug saw an episode of the the Aquabats Super Show that was all about - you guessed it, science.  That really wet his appetite to do a science project and after giving him several choices he chose to test how much water diapers will hold, or in his words which diaper will be the winner.  Although I must admit he was a little bit wary about what the fruits of his labors would be...

"Well, if I do this will I get a ribbon?"
"Yes."
"What color will it be?"
"I think it will be white."
"I only want a blue one."

Competitive much?  Glad he had a good experience and got a blue ribbon, but just in case he didn't Grandma sent one to slip him.  Someday we'll let him live in the real world but for now he gets the kids fantasy treatment.
